ARCHITECTS FOR HEALTH (AfH) KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE

We are delighted to announce the launch of the (2022) AfH Knowledge Exchange. The AfH Knowledge Exchange creates a virtual ‘centre of excellence’ for healthcare design, bridging the gap between academia, professional practice and the NHS.

Our aim is to inspire, challenge and guide the next generation of healthcare designers, through a growing range of activities.

Our current focus involves two initiatives which, along with a wider commitment to connecting students and professionals, support these aims. This is an open invitation to all AfH members.

INSPIRE

Student Design AwardsThe AfH Student Design Awards, (now in its 15th year) engages students in interior design and architecture courses across the UK in a prestigious competition, challenging them to create the healthcare spaces of the future. Students have two routes to entry – either responding to an AfH brief or aligning their submission to their current (health-related) course content. AfH Members are on hand to support students with crits and a volunteer jury will review and mark all submissions with winners announced in June each year.

CHALLENGE

Ann Noble

The Ann Noble Research Award. Launched in 2020: this award is made to a student taking the Bartlett Real Estates Institute Healthcare Facilities MSc and is specifically to be used for the furtherance of an MSc dissertation. AfH Members donate their time to mentor shortlisted students, who are then invited to present their projects to the wider membership.

GUIDE

Collaborate and Connect. AfH Members are encouraged to collaborate with participating universities and colleges throughout the academic year through critiques and reviews*. And as a practicing professional in healthcare design and delivery of projects we are asking members to provide a one-hour knowledge-share session (consisting of a presentation + Q&A session). This offers an insight into the skills necessary for a career in healthcare design and creates valuable connections with practices actively working in the sector. These sessions will take place between December 2021 and January 2022 online or in person.

If you are interested, please email awards@architectsforhealth.com, stating Ref: Collaborate and Connect
*This opportunity is open to all universities and colleges participating in the annual Student Design Awards programme.

SPONSORSHIP OF THE AFH STUDENT DESIGN AWARDS 2023

We are also seeking Professional Practices to sponsor the AfH Student Design Awards 2023.
As a sponsor you are of course invited to the Award Ceremony which will take place in July 2023, invited to take part in the knowledge exchange and be a judge as well. More Information here
