Dr Roger Ulrich is Professor of Architecture at Texas A&M University, currently a Visiting Professor to the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London and an Advisor to the Department of Health.

A behavioural scientist, Dr Ulrich conducts research on the effects of healthcare facilities on medical outcomes and patient safety. He and his associates have researched, for example, the effects of hospital window views on recovery from surgery, the influences of visual surroundings on outcomes in intensive care patients, and how noise impacts on staff and patients.

This presentation was recorded during Dr Roger Ulrich’s visit to the UK in 2005. The views expressed in this recording are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect those of the DH. Further information can be found at http://www.healthdesign.org
