The Local Government Association has produced a helpful guide to the current healthcare structures. Designed for newly elected councillors, the guide explains the relationship between local authorities and public health, the role of health and wellbeing boards and the funding structures behind Clinical Commissioning Groups. The simple guide offers an introduction to the reforms of the NHS in 2012 and a description of the different parts of the health system, national, regional and local their interrelationships with each other and with social care and the wider role of local government.
