Architects for Health has a permanent place on this group which is composed of members with knowledge and experience of the briefing, design and management of healthcare buildings. The main aim of AfH within this group is to promote the simplification and standardisation of presentation and information and to work towards the production of one Building Note with addendum for clinical specialisms.

The group has representation from all four devolved nations and a variety of specialist organisations such as IHEEM, HeFMA, NHS Property Services, Community Health Partnerships, P22, CIBSE, EFM Sustainability and other interested groups.

Currently the FSWG is pursuing the issue of new or updated Health Technical Memoranda and Health Building Notes with a particular emphasis at this time on the impact of Covid 19 and the effect on proposed design guides and legislation.

The publication of the first tranche of eight revised or new HBNs and HTMs, including HBN15-02 Same Day Emergency Care, HBN 06-01 Diagnostic Imaging and HBN10-01 Surgical Procedures Facilities is awaiting final ministerial approval.

The next meeting of FSWG is 3rd February 2021.
