Strategic Engagement

Shaping policy, standards and procurement as the voice of the healthcare design community

AfH building visit to the Maggie’s Royal Marsden

Our strategic engagement pillar provides a collective voice for the industry focused on improving standards and building better by design

Our purpose is to:

  • Engage with NHS Estates and Facilities, relevant All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) and the Future Standards Working Group (FSWG);
  • Provide critical feedback on procurement processes, technical design guidance and industry standards;
  • Be a respected voice for the industry, challenging policy makers to deliver improvement in the delivery of healthcare environments fit for the future;
  • Work with industry organisations, including IHEEM, the Design in Mental Health Network and more, to challenge orthodoxy and campaign for change.

Whether it is through technical review groups, research initiatives, education or knowledgeshare, we are committed to continuously improving the technical delivery of healthcare design in the UK.

Our strategic engagement pillar is led by Nigel Pilkington and Matthew Hird.
